Burnt Offering (4)

Burnt Offering (4)

Offering are discussed from Leviticus chapter 1. Among the many offerings that are recorded in the Bible, Leviticus chapter 1 talks about the burnt offering. Starting from verse 3, the verses are about the burnt offering of a male bullock without blemish. From verse 10, it talks about the burnt offering of sheep or goats. Then, from verse 14, it mentions burnt offerings using turtledoves or young pigeons. Therefore, in Leviticus chapter 1, three kinds of burnt offerings are presented. I cannot talk about all three burnt offerings right now. First, I want to talk about giving a burnt offering with a male bullock.

In chapter 1, verse 3, it says, “If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish.” On the other hand, Leviticus chapter 4 talks about the sin offering. If a common person has committed sin, the offering for the sin is a kid of the goats, a female without blemish. For the peace offering mentioned in Leviticus chapter 3, they will not differentiate between the offering being a male or female. However, the burnt offering must surely be a male, whether it is a bullock, sheep, or goat.

Furthermore, from verse 4, the procedure of the burnt offering is recorded. “And he shall put his head upon the head of the burnt offering and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. And he shall kill the bullock before the Lord: and the priests, Aaron’s sons shall bring the blood and sprinkle the blood upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.”
